When we were young, our father would buy fried chicken for our family on his way home from work. It became a source of comfort and family bonding over the years. As we became adults, we found ourselves connecting with friends and colleagues over beer and chicken.

 

In Korean culture, the combination of chicken and beer is often referred to as "chimaek" (치맥). This term takes the "chi" from chicken and "maek" from "maekju" (beer in Korean).
